Sue’s Secrets Journal
Hello kitchen friends, come on in!
Entry No. 3
It should only be a few more days before we are ready to launch our updated website…the official start of our recipe mail club! We’re getting very excited as we start preparing and testing the recipes that will be going out to our first subscribers.
Our first month will be October, so naturally we’ve been thinking about fall — the kinds of foods we’ll be craving that time of year, what’s in season, and what we’ll actually be finding at the grocery store. It’s all part of making sure the recipes we send are things you’ll really want to cook or bake when they arrive.
Of course, we already know that the recipes are fabulous and taste amazing. But, we still need to test them to make sure we haven’t forgotten a step, that all the ingredients are listed, and that the measurements actually make sense.
Okay, right now, think Oprah and say: “Recipe Testing!” 🤣
Honestly, it’s just another favourite part of this project.
I know, I know, I also need to get on top of social media as we move forward. I think it will be fun once we can start sharing more photos and little videos of what we’re working on — maybe some sneak peeks at the recipes and other materials that will be going into the mail. I’m looking forward to getting to that stage too.
Speaking of mail, I recently received my very first subscription from another snail mail club that I signed up for. It’s from someone local who does these really lovely natural environment observations. Each month she creates a little print, often featuring an animal, along with some interesting facts. This month’s was a bat, and it turns out her brother is actually a bat scientist, which I thought was pretty neat. It gave me a little glimpse into her world beyond just the artwork. There was also a little doodle lesson included, which was a fun surprise.
Now I’m already looking forward to seeing what arrives next! I think I’ll keep the subscription going for another couple of months and then try another one. There are so many different kinds of snail mail subscriptions out there, and I like the idea of trying a few and seeing what other people are creating.
And honestly, having these little packages arrive in my own mailbox is making me even more excited for the day we get to start sending Sue’s Secrets out to our own subscribers.
It’s getting real. 😊 Keeping the dream alive!
